Our Awards

Our exporting success and commitment to people development represent just two of the areas in which we have won awards in recent years. Below are some of our most recent awards.

2009 - 2024: Deloitte Best Managed Company 

CDE has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme for sixteen consecutive years and is the only company from Northern Ireland to be on the list every year.

Commenting on the latest award, Tony Convery, Executive Chairman & Founder, CDE said: “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award from Deloitte for the sixteenth consecutive year as recognition for the entire team at CDE. Our people are at the core of everything we do at CDE, so this award demonstrates the talent within our valued team. 

2023: Excellence in Learning & Development - CIPD Awards

We're very proud to have won the 'Excellence in Learning & Development' award at the 2023 CIPD Awards. The award was for the delivery of our 'Leadership Programme', which took place over a 2-year period for over 100 team members to enhance their leadership skills.

2021: Drum B2B Marketing Awards

CDE was highly commended in the best response to change category in the prestigious Drum B2B Marketing Awards. Coming up against some global brands including Twitter and DHL, this was a great achievement for CDE’s marketing team who were acknowledged for their work in 2020 and 2021 in promoting CDE to a global market during the testing times of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

2021: CIPD Best Learning & Development Initiative - Private Sector 

CDE came Highly Commended for the "Thrive Training Programme" in the ‘Best L&D initiative – private sector’ category at the CIPD Awards.

The “Thrive Training Programme” was created to support the strategic growth of CDE. A psychometric test approach was used to create a leadership performance competency matrix. We used a blended approach across different time zones including peer to peer learning, webinars, bite-sized presentations, podcasts, discussions, roleplays, and virtual team “catch ups”. This ambitious approach resulted in creative, multifaced learning opportunities, embedded in individual professional development plans. The programme resulted in the highest Q1 performance to date, key competency improvements and improved inductions.

2021: Belfast Telegraph Business Awards 2021 - Excellence in Marketing 

CDE has been awarded the Excellence in Marketing award at for the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards 2021.

The team also came Highly Commended in the 'Best Use of Digital and/or Social Media' category. Commenting on the award, Head of Marketing at CDE, Sarah Corr said, "Given the current climate, we have had to adjust how we interact with our customers and we’re proud to say we've met that challenge." 

2019: Business Innovation of the Year

In November, our innovative Combo™, the world’s first all-in-one wet processing plant, which was unveiled in Europe at Bauma in April 2019, was awarded Business Innovation of the Year at the 2019 MEED Awards, organised by the Middle East Economic Digest. Read more.

2019: Innovation Productivity Improvement Award

CDE collected the hotly contested Innovation Productivity Improvement Award at the 2019 Premier’s Awards in Energy & Mining, hosted by the South Australia Department for Energy and Mining in Adelaide.

These awards recognise excellence demonstrated by leading resources and energy sector companies and organisations to improve the economic, environmental, health and social wellbeing of South Australian communities.

The Innovation Productivity Improvement Award acknowledged the positive contribution that CDE's solutions for the Simec iron ore beneficiation project have delivered to the local economy in South Australia. Since commissioning, it has injected an estimated $25million (AUD) into the local economy and secured important employment opportunities. 

2019: Geoscience Ireland Award

CDE, enjoyed success at the 2019 Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards, picking up the coveted Geoscience Ireland Award. This award recognises the exceptional achievement in the design and delivery of the multi-million-pound iron ore beneficiation project with Simec Mining in Australia, which demonstrated CDE’s significant geoscientific expertise. This was one of two awards picked up in the space of 24-hours for this project. Read more here.

2019: Board of Trade Award

In May 2019, CDE was one of six Northern Ireland companies who received a Board of Trade Award in recognition of exporting excellence. Speaking about the award, International Trade Secretary and President of the Board of Trade Dr Liam Fox MP said, “I am encouraged by the success of Northern Ireland’s existing Export Advocates and I urge more businesses who have successfully entered overseas markets to join this community and help guide other firms on to their first international sale."

2019: Made in Northern Ireland - Manufacturer of the Year (£25m+)

CDE made it back-to-back successes at the Made in Northern Ireland Awards as we picked up the Manufacturer of the Year Award (£25m+) for the second successive year. Along with this, there was also individual recognition for Joe O'Neill, Apprentice Design Engineer who was awarded the Apprentice of the Year.

2019: Belfast Telegraph Business Awards - Outstanding Business of the Year & Excellence in Exporting

CDE was crowned ‘Outstanding Business of the Year’ at the 2019 Belfast Telegraph Business Awards, in partnership with Ulster Bank. As well as the top prize on the night, CDE also collected the ‘Excellence in Exporting’ award in front of an audience of almost 500 of Northern Ireland’s most influential and entrepreneurial business leaders. The judging panel commended CDE’s significant growth in international sales and its sustained and strategic expansion into new export markets worldwide.

2019: The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200

CDE was once again recognised in The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 list in 2019, the third consecutive year, that CDE have made this list with the company being ranked in 169th position. The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 is a league table that ranks the fastest-growing UK mid-market private companies in terms of international sales. 

2018: 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain & 1000 Companies to Inspire Europe

2018 saw CDE recognised in two reports from the London Stock Exchange Group for the 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain and the 1000 Companies to Inspire Europe. 

2018: The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200

June 2018 saw CDE recognised in The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 list for the second consecutive year, with the company being ranked in 130th position. The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 is a league table that ranks the fastest-growing UK mid-market private companies in terms of international sales. CDE was one of only three Northern Ireland companies to be recognised in this prestigious list.

2018: Made in Northern Ireland - Manufacturer of the Year (£25m+)

In May 2018, CDE was recognised in the prestigious Made in Northern Ireland awards, picking up the coveted Manufacturer of the Year Award (£25m+). These awards recognise and reward manufacturing companies based in Northern Ireland that have demonstrated success in innovation, product development, and growth in either domestic or overseas markets. This was the fifth year of the awards, and as well as being named NI's Manufacturer of the Year, the company was also highly commended in the Manufacturing Innovation category. 

2018: Irish Accountancy Awards

CDE’s Finance team were recognised for their great work at the 2018 Irish Accountancy Awards. The team picked up the Excellence in Sustainability award, while our Financial Controller, Monica Kelly achieved personal recognition from the industry by collecting the Accountant of the Year award . 

2018 - CIM Ireland Marketing Team of the Year

The CDE Marketing Team was recognised in November 2018 at the annual CIM Ireland Awards ceremony. CDE scooped the prestigious ‘Marketing Team of the Year’ award for its unrivalled performance in delivering marketing excellence across the brands they manage globally.

2014 & 2015: Chartered Institute of Marketing - Marketing Excellence Awards

We won the Marketing Exporter of the Year award in 2014 and retained it again in 2015 in recognition of our work to develop new export markets across the 5 sectors and 8 regions where we work. 

2014: Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce - Excellence in People Development

We were awarded the Excellence in People Development Award by the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce for our commitment to the ongoing training, personal and professional development of our people. As winners of this award, we progressed to the national UK finals where we picked up the national award - confirming our status as one of the best employers in the UK for developing our people and allowing them to reach their full potential.

In 2016 we were also Highly Commended in the 'Export Business of the Year' category at the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce awards.

2013-2016: Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards

We are winners of the 'Managing Talent' award for 3 consecutive years from 2013 to 2015 and these awards recognise our commitment to attracting and retaining the best people to the CDE team. 

This success was followed in 2016 with 2 further awards for CDE - Innovative Employer and the new Entrepreneurial Spirit award.

2013: PwC Award for Excellence in Private Business

In May 2013, CDE picked up the ‘Excellence in Private Business Award’ at the PwC Private Business Awards in Belfast. The Private Business Awards celebrate the best of private business across Northern Ireland.

This was followed in 2016 with our nomination to the UK National Finals in the 'Best International Business' category following the exporting success we have enjoyed in recent years.

2012: Ulster Bank Business Achievers Award

CDE was crowned the 'Ulster Bank Business Achiever 2012' at the national final of the awards, which took place at the Mansion House in Dublin. The awards, now in their 19th year, are in association with the Irish Independent, Enterprise Ireland and InterTrade Ireland. 

Receiving the award, Finance Director Colin Trainor, CDE said "We are thrilled to be named the overall Ulster Bank Business Achiever 2012. Since CDE's incorporation, we've grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of aggregate and minerals washing equipment on the global market. Our international success has been achieved as a result of a relentless focus on innovation combined with hard work and constant dedication from our people. Receiving this award is a true testament to the strength and quality of our business and our staff, and is even more pleasing when we consider the overall competition within the category. Everyone at CDE is thrilled to be rewarded with this accolade as we continue on our vision to become the number one washing equipment company in every country in the world."

CDE also received the Ulster Bank Business Achievers award for 'Best International Business'.

2012: Aer Lingus Viscount Awards - Most Innovative Company of the year

CDE was rewarded for helping sustain the economic ties that have been developed between NI and Great Britain at the annual Aer Lingus Viscount Awards in association with Ulster Business and Insider media.

CDE picked up the award for ‘Most Innovative Company of the Year’ at the ceremony, which was held in the Corinthia Hotel, London. 

2007: Institute of Export - Exporter of the Year 

The award, organised by the Northern Ireland Institute of Export, was established to recognise the achievement of Northern Ireland organisations in export markets. Previous winners of the award include leading Northern Ireland companies such as Mivan, Grafton Recruitment, The Wright Group, Galen and Ulster Carpets. Presenting the award, Darren Richardson from the Institute of Export said “CDE exemplifies the strategic, sustainable approach to business development in export markets that are essential to the future development of Northern Ireland’s private sector. They are worthy recipients of the Award for Export Achievement and I commend them on their success”.
