PROBLEM
Valdeau’Mat, a new family-run recycling platform in the Lille region, wanted to tackle the growing issue of construction waste and a reliance on external material supplies, in order to implement the circular economy in the Lille metropole, the 4th largest region in France. With the new facility, the company aimed to produce high-quality recycled materials, improve operational efficiency and promote sustainability.
SOLUTION
Valdeau’Mat partnered with CDE to create a 200 tph state-of-the-art wet processing plant which leverages some of our most advanced technologies, including the R4500 primary feeding and scalping system, the AggMax logwasher, the EvoWash sand wash system, the AquaCycle thickener, and the SmartTech and OptiMax plant managing systems designed to give plant operators more intelligence and data to optimise their operations. The plant produces 5 fractions of high-quality recycled materials: 3 aggregates in 4-8mm, 8-20mm, and 20-80mm and 2 sands in 0-2mm and 0-4mm. These materials are used for the Vandeginste brothers’ public work companies as well as sold for construction applications, promoting a circular economy and reducing the demand for virgin materials.
The mineral recycling plant was designed with future expansion in mind, offering Valdeau’Mat the possibility to double capacity to process up to 800,000 tonnes of material per year and diversify its product ranges with more fractions and higher-quality materials. It is housed in a building equipped with solar panels to reduce energy consumption and underground reservoirs to minimises water and energy usage, contributing to lower emissions.
RESULT
The new plant has already exceeded expectations and is set to process up to 400,000 tonnes of material annually instead of the 320,000 tonnes initially planned. It produces high-quality recycled aggregates and sands, meeting both internal needs and external market demands. Valdeau’Mat has not only improved its sustainability but also gained a competitive edge by becoming a pioneer in sustainable construction practices in the region. The partnership between Valdeau’Mat and CDE has resulted in a significant step forward for the circular economy in the Lille region.
